Minamiaso Ringatei LOG HOUSE by ritomaru

Let go into Aso, and reconnect. A private log house stay with the pet you love. "Minamiaso Ringatei LOG HOUSE by ritomaru" is a whole-house log villa that sits as if cradled by the earth of Aso. The breath of the trees, the warmth of fire, the scent of the soil, the flow of water, the sound of the wind, and the vastness of the sky above — the six elements of nature that dwell in this land speak quietly to the senses of every visitor. Inside, the house is also fitted with a rare feature for a private whole-house villa: a fully automatic mahjong table. Bring the "intellectual play" of a thoughtful game into your vacation, wrapped in the stillness of great nature. Come experience a playful, grown-up kind of rest, made just for you.

A moment spent with art, with the grand scenery of Aso as your canvas

Winner of the 2014 Japan Log House of the Year award, this log house makes generous use of local Oguni cedar and is finished down to the smallest detail using traditional carpentry techniques.
Its most striking feature is the beauty of the polished round logs, combined with sturdier round and squared logs for a design that feels both substantial and open. Timber cut from the company's own forest is joined by skilled craftsmen into beautifully seamless logs. The living, dining, and kitchen area (LDK) rises 3.8m wide and 4.75m deep to a double-height ceiling, opening onto a space where the powerful frame of the building is fully visible. The spacious island kitchen, bright interior, large openings, and wide deck were all designed for enjoying the view of Mt. Aso — and for letting your pets play freely. Right in front of you, the grand mountain view of the outer rim and the Aso Five Peaks. At night, a sky full of stars. The house is equipped with a sauna and cold plunge bath, for a time of resetting mind and body. In the living room, relax by the fireplace and let the flickering flames soothe you, and enjoy a BBQ with local ingredients on the grounds. You can even pick persimmons that ripen right on the property, a small luxury of tasting nature's bounty. The surrounding area has 11 natural spring sites, along with trekking, cycling, shrine visits, kagura sacred dance, folk craft experiences, and, in early summer, firefly viewing too.
A stay that treasures what is already here, and lets you feel the joy of living alongside nature.
